Risen is a carefully crafted gem and the developers obviously have a love for creating immersive worlds that will challenge and reward. After hours of gameplay, I am still motivated to revisit the island as a different character class and learn even more elements buried into this engine and RPG system. There is a ton of depth here and always something new to discover. This is the kind of sandbox where time can be spent just enjoying the environment and exploring for its own sake. As with a lot of the crpg's coming out of Europe over the last several years, there is a bit of polish lacking and a needed touch up here and there but if you give it a chance, those things become easily forgettable and the experience will remain as one of the all time best.
