Overlord II Interview

Triumph Studios creative director Lennart Sas answers a handful of questions about Overlord II and its predecessor in a new interview at OXM.
How do you feel when Overlord is compared with Fable?

I think Fable is a unique game. That's for sure. When a game does something like we do stylised fantasy with comedy elements, people immediately point to Fable. But I think if you look closer, the humour is very different in Overlord - it's very dark, very satirical. Looking at the graphics, Overlord goes more into the grotesque. When people look at a creature or an enemy, we want people to go "what the f***." So we have "what the f***" moments in the game.

You're trying to push the boundaries.

A little bit, yeah. So when you see a fairy, fairies are normally skinny and lovely. We made a massively fat fairy and when they move through the air, you see huge titties swinging and hitting minions in the face. That sort of grotesqueness is something that is unique to Overlord as well.
