Q. "Assassins infiltrate the cities" Does that mean we might start seeing npcs that are of the Assassin class?!?

A. Could this be a hint of what's to come? I'll answer that with a definite. no comment. What you need to know about these Assassins is that there's a daily challenge to kill marked targets and some of those marked targets are hunting in YOUR city. Are you going to stand for that? They're disguised, so be on your guard.

Q. How does one go about getting "Marked for Death" and are there rewards for surviving or protecting those who are marked?

A. There are quests in every war camp, Capital city, and in every scenario. Take the quest, kill every enemy in sight, especially those with the signature Night of Murder Skull and Cross Bones over their head, and earn influence for the event. You won't know if you're marked or if one of your allies is marked, so play as normal and keep each other safe!
