The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria Interview

The editors at Massive Gamer Magazine have posted a quick interview with Turbine's Jeffrey Steefel about the company's newly released The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria expansion pack.
The Rune-keeper is a form of hybrid class. They can play the role of an offensive DPS class or a more passive healer-type. It all depends on the group and how they act within it. As they act more like a mage, their focus moves towards that. The shift improves their performance on offense, but limits their more group oriented abilities. The opposite is true if they go the healer route. Unlike many classes where this choice is made at (birth,) the Rune-keeper can shift back and forth from group to group or encounter to encounter. They're the Swiss Army Knife of LotRO classes.

But will hardcore fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's master work accept it?

(For the most part those people who felt we were going to tear the Tolkien lore in two have become very comfortable with it the more they use it,) said Steefel. That's not to say they're universally revered, but generally, people understand that it is a game and it's about fun.
