The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria Preview

The editors at IGN were able to spend some hands-on time with Turbine's The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria expansion pack and have published a quick preview based on their experience.
There's a bit more progression to some of the other instances we saw. In Foundations of Stone, for example, players venture down to explore what's at the bottom of the giant pit where the orcs throw their dead. When the players arrive in the catacombs and tunnels around this orc burial mound, they'll find themselves in the midst of a war between the corpse-eating Kegrim orcs and the Grodbog insects. The player will have the option to take either side in this war, battling against the orcs and their corpse claw allies, or smashing the Grodbog's beetles and creepy centipede guards. There's even a third option to take an alternate path and take on a terrifying creature that's feeding on the orcs and the insects.

Whichever group you go after, you'll battle your way through a succession of guards and sub-bosses before finally coming to the corpse-pile at the heart of the conflict. On top of this you'll find the leader of whichever faction you haven't been killing, proudly standing in front of the corpse of the other group's leader. In our case, we had done lots of bug hunting, so when we climbed to the top of the corpse pile, we found the massive orc Grimreaver standing over the defeated Grodbog queen, Brumbereth.
