Rise of the Argonauts Team Q&A #1

RPG Vault has published the first in a series of Q&A sessions with members of the Rise of the Argonauts development team.
Jonric: What's your preferred way to play Rise of the Argonauts? What approach do you like to follow in building up the main character, Jason?

Vernon Andrew Dunmore, Designer: In terms of combat, I prefer a play style that emphasizes precision and lethality, making Athena's aspects a natural fit for me. I often time my attacks to interrupt enemies during theirs, thus ensuring unblocked hits, as well as to take advantage of both her aspects and Hermes', which fire off on interrupts. I also frequently utilize power block, which catches attacking enemies off guard. For that reason I typically pick up a few Apollo aspects to bolster that ability. Also, I often finish off my opponents with a spear execution attack, and choose the follow-up (kick them off the spear, vault them over my head, or slice off theirs with my shield) that best sets up my next move.

When it comes to narrative, I like to take a wait and see approach to interacting with the world. Typically I'll talk to everyone first, and then make a solid decision about what my next move will be. Coincidentally, that also aligns me with Athena's ethos, meaning my combat and narrative styles are actually pretty much on par with each other. That said, there are occasional times where I speak with characters that irk me from the offset; in those cases, I choose the Ares route, one of boldness and forthright action.
