GDC 2008 Insights, Part One

RPG Vault is starting a feature to look back at the Game Developer Conference with some of the studios that went there. To start off, they get some responses on the event from Sacred 2 team members.
Officially, GDC 2008 was great for us as a developer, and served as a small E3. We were pleasantly surprised that the game picked up a lot of attention in Germany and Europe because of our showing there.

Unofficially, we had lots of guests from all the major countries in Europe. It was funny, having a game demonstration in the USA with German journalists.

Officially, our partner for North America, CDV, had organized the setup for us. It was nice to see the engagement and professional preparation. Also, the PR teams did a great job organizing all the appointments. And thanks to the Microsoft Xbox 360 team, Dell and Alienware made sure we had great hardware to present Sacred 2. We had a great time and look forward for the GDC 2009.

Unofficially, because we had so many requests for interviews and demonstrations, we had to start early Monday in my hotel room. One German publication, two Italian outlets and two Polish journalists visited us, and we shared margaritas and good ideas about the future of RPGs... it was more a party than a demo.
