Age of Conan Regional Profile: Purple Lotus Swamp

GameSpy has posted another regional profile for Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, this time providing us with a closer look at Purple Lotus Swamp. The article also goes on to detail some creatures and siege warfare:
When a siege starts, the battle can be a scene of complete chaos. Funcom is aiming to have over one hundred players in battle at the same time, so guilds will have to coordinate their attacks and defenses carefully. Archers can be placed on walls. War mammoths and Killer Rhino can be placed at the front of an attacking column. Attackers usually start by crafting a few siege engines such as trebuchets and placing them in tactically advantageous spots on the battlefield. Players will direct the shots of the siege engines, trying to focus on weak spots in the wall. For the attackers, destroying buildings and killing the enemy will give the points needed in order to win. Everything players do gives points, even congesting certain areas of the playfield. If a guild manages to build up enough points within the vulnerability window, they'll win and the enemy battlekeep will be destroyed so that the new guild can build their own on the ashes of the old one.

A siege battle may take anywhere from a few moments to several hours to complete, depending on the strength of the two opposing guilds. Walls can be made stronger by upgrades to turn back the attackers. The attacking forces may have outnumbered the defenders and caused them to fail to hold off the attackers for long enough. One's victory is another's defeat, though, and the wheel of time continues to spin for the guilds braving the frontiers of the Border Kingdom. Victory today may be defeat tomorrow. The only constant is the ongoing sounds of battle.
