Eschalon: Book I Peek #1

The guys at RPG Vault have dished up their first "peek" feature for Basilisk Games' upcoming "old school" RPG, Eschalon: Book I. In it, lead programmer Thomas Riegsecker discusses one of the game's quests and the multiple ways it can be solved:
Can you pick the lock on the door? Certainly, if your skill in Lock Picking is developed enough, this could be the quickest way to gain entrance to the crypt. However, if you happen to possess more brawn than finesse, you'll find it simpler just to bash your way through the door using an axe or a hammer. Unfortunately, this option presents some problems of it own, namely that it takes a lot of time to do and you'll probably destroy several weapons in the process. After all, reinforced doors are not meant to be smashed open easily.

Perhaps an easier route to take would be for you to just find the key that unlocks the crypt door. With a bit of exploration, you can find the cemetery caretaker and attempt to persuade him to give you the key. You shouldn't expect him just to hand it over to you readily, but open dialogue with an NPC often presents new paths to pursue.
