Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Second View

RPG Vault is offering up a "second view" article for Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, providing us with another set of commendations, reservations, and considerations for the upcoming MMORPG.
The combat system seems likely to attract those who want to feel more involved. For example, when you attack with a melee weapon, you target a specific part of your opponent's body, and you dodge blows by moving away, not through a purely statistical calculation. The pace is fairly quick, similar to that of an action RPG, but should still be accessible to most users. Another very interesting related element is the ability to lead other players and NPCs in battle through a formation system. Guilds will be able to construct their own towns, and lay siege to those of their enemies. There will be ample quest content providing a constant sense of purpose and direction. The locations, characters and creatures we've seen have been visually appealing, and the overall art direction feels appropriately Conan-like.
