A few months after Kingdom Reborn, UO gets its next official expansion pack -- one that will only be accessible to players with the new client. Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss offers players the titular Abyss (the largest dungeon in UO to date) along with the world of the Gargoyles. Old-time fans of the single player Ultimas may remember the Gargoyles as the noble but misunderstood race of winged humanoids that the Avatar nearly destroyed but then befriended. Those who never played those games might be interested in the expansion merely for the ability to play as a gargoyle. The gargoyles can shape stone and manipulate energy to create cool new weapons and power all sorts of new spells. More important, they've got wings. That offers the tantalizing possibility of being able to play as a race that flies.
