While BioShock is primarily a first-person RPG with guns, Irrational has designed the game from the ground up to make sure it's not a straight run-and-gun game. This is a game for the thinking gamer, and you'll be able to get out of (and sometimes into) situations without firing a bullet. While BioShock won't be totally open-ended, you'll have plenty of decisions while playing BioShock about how you want to get through certain situations. Do you want to shoot the baddie straight on or do you want to trip the security camera and make a flying bot take out your opponent? Do you want to take on the mounted machine cannon directly or can you figure out an ingenious way to take it out? As Joe explained it, "It's all about choice, and we're giving the players as much choice as we possibly can."
