The campaign itself concerns the events following a call for heroes across the land in order to combat an army of pure evil. Leading this army is the Apocalypse Dragon, a seemingly unstoppable five headed (juggernaut of destruction.) Within the game's single player campaign, the player takes up the role of one of five characters, and over the course of the campaign must band together with the other four other heroes in order to face the dragon and defeat the forces of chaos that populate the Mage Knight universe. Of course, what this means is that the other characters will be A.I. driven, something that has proven itself to be a stumbling block in earlier action RPGs. Mage Knight will allow for the allocation of simple commands such as (attack my target) or (back off!), but by and large these other four heroes will attempt to handle themselves for better or worse.
