Hammer & Sickle Reviews

Another pair of reviews for Nival Interactive's Hammer & Sickle have hit the web, though neither one is very positive. The first is at GameSpot with an overall score of 3.6/10:
If Hammer & Sickle were the first effort of a fledgling developer working alone then you could be optimistic about the future of the company. After all, the turn-based engine is reasonably well done, if sluggish, and Novik & Co. had some great ideas here. But since this game was codeveloped by Nival, you instead have to wonder how a veteran developer like this, with a dozen games to its credit (including some very good ones), could ever have let a mess like this out the door.

And the second is at VGPub with an overall score of 5/10:
I really wanted to enjoy this game; the concept of a Cold War tactical RPG really appealed to me. Though it sounded sweet on paper, developer Nival Interactive couldn't translate it into a great game. Hopefully, Hammer & Sickle's failures will inspire the creation of games that can more fully realize its potential.
