City of Villains Impressions

GameSpy has posted their initial impressions of City of Villains, after getting a chance to try out Cryptic Studios' supervillain MMORPG firsthand. Take a look:
The beauty of City of Villains is that the new features seem to have made the experience richer and more compelling without adding much complexity to the game. The biggest part of this is the addition of "lairs." Lairs are super-villain home bases that contain -- well -- all the things you would reasonably expect to find in a den of iniquity: hospitals, twisted workshops, trophy rooms, temples to some unspeakable Chthonian god... the usual stuff they show on House & Garden TV. Lairs are expensive, however, which means that they can only be created and maintained by SuperGroups (the City of. equivalent of guilds) by means of "prestige." Prestige is a separate form of currency from the usual "infamy" that players earn. Prestige is picked up by going on missions and defeating enemies while in SuperGroup mode.
