Guild Wars Interview

1Up was able to track down ArenaNet's Gaile Gray for a two-page interview about the present and future plans the company has for Guild Wars. Here's a bit to get you started:
Q: Because of the instanced content and story-driven missions, it's easy to draw parallels with single-player RPGs. How has the player base reacted to this?

A: The story-based directive of the game is something we developed because it's what pulled a lot of us into playing games in the first place. Some players do join GW expecting that it will be another MMO, and that means they have a certain set of expectations. This isn't actually a bad thing, because despite their expectations, the vast majority of those who came to GW from another MMO [love] the idea of actually having a motivation for their actions. Rather than your simply being part of a world with a vaguely defined role, the story of GW is really all about you.
