Q: Are there any new major or minor skills in Oblivion? How many total skills are there?
A: We have 21 skills total, so seven in each major category combat, magic, and stealth. 21 skills gives us the perfect balance as each of the 7 main attributes governs 3 skills. We've combined a couple here and there from Morrowind, so things like Short Blade and Long Blade are now a single Blade skill. To make things more interesting, every category has a series of perks special abilities or bonuses that you get as you advance in skill. For instance, an expert in Marksman has a chance to knock down an opponent with an arrow strike, while a master in Block can disarm his or her opponent.
