Where a traditional MMORPG would have you customizing and equipping your character, Auto Assault lets you kit out your car instead. Budding drivers can live out their Mad Max fantasies; the configuration options are extensive. You can change your power plant, your armor, your tires -- even add fluffy dice for that '80s look. Most parts have some effect on the performance of your car, but some are just there for fun.

The world outside of the human city is the large public area known as Highway 21. The world outside is dark (literally) and very desolate. You'll find a few small towns here and there and a few roads cutting through the wasteland but mostly you'll just find barren hills and radioactive slime pits. The whole area is dominated by three factions -- the Thugs, the Scavs and the Corps. Each group is represented by plenty of vehicles and infantry units. In addition to the "human" opponents, there are plenty of mutated creatures to fight as well.
