The Matrix Online Reviews

Warner Bros. and Monolith's The Matrix Online is the subject of three new reviews, all of which give the sci-fi MMORPG a mediocre score. The first is at AltGaming with an overall score of 7/10:
However releasing and charging for a game that suffers in the way that Matrix Online does is not only annoying, it's also a little unethical. Though despite this there is an often-uncontrollable pull to '˜jack' back in, because no matter how many bugs, this is as close as it gets to being Neo - and for fans, there is no higher accolade. With luck Monolith will sort the problems currently blighting MxO, and then the doubters will be forced into reconsidering their snap verdict on this underrated title.

The second is at AceGamez with an overall score of 6/10:
As an extension of the Matrix universe, there is a lot The Matrix Online gets right and fans of the films will be hard pressed to find another game that manages to feel so much like an authentic continuation from the movies rather than some cheap cash in. Sadly, there is also much the game gets wrong; the bugs, the lack of variety in missions and environments, the flawed interlocked combat system - too much to simply look past and while fans may be more forgiving with these problems, others may find them too much to bear.

And the third is at Boomtown with an overall score of 6/10:
Being a fan of The Matrix franchise I was really rooting for this game. It shows promise in some areas, noticeably the live events and the continuing evolution of the Matrix saga. The progression of your character in terms of abilities is fun also. However it's marred by a lethargic combat system, slow level grinding and general lack of polish. My hope is that they will improve it in future patches and expansions but I'm not holding my breath.
