City of Villains E3 Preview

RPG Vault has whipped up a preview of City of Villains, after spending some firsthand time with Cryptic Studios' upcoming standalone MMORPG/expansion pack hybrid during this year's E3. A little something to start you off:
The team has recognized that simply reprising City of Heroes with new skins, different garb and revised names for their powers wouldn't satisfy many fans for very long, and has also focused on a couple of other key areas. One is an increased emphasis on player versus player. At launch, the gameworld will reportedly consist of seven normal zones plus four that are open to PvP. As a result, you'll be able to stick to PvE if you wish, undertaking missions that involve robbery, kidnapping and other forms of mayhem. The demo included one sortie in which the goal was to purloin a valuable object held in a bank vault. To do so, you must defeat Mynx, a story superhero from City of Heroes; this certainly suggests the two games will have more crossover content. There will also be tasks you can perform for the ruler of the region, Lord Recluse. The example show involved a walled citadel called Fort Hades; you can earn rewards by eliminating the pirate ghosts that occupy it.
