Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Interview

Girl-Gamer.com has published an interview with Sigil Games' Amanda Poe, asking the developer several questions about her start in the gaming industry and the upcoming Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Check it out:
Q: Many of the staff at Sigil have been involved in the Everquest games in some way. Given the popularity of the Everquest games with the female gaming population, do you feel that VSOH has the potential to attract a large number of female gamers and do you have any strategies, thoughts about ways to make online games in general and VSOH in particular more appealing to women?

A: I think that EQ appeals to females for a number of reasons. Most obvious is probably the social aspect. Women can get together with friends or family and go on great adventures together, collecting great funny and/or touching stories along the way. But also, I think that a lot of little girls probably grew up imagining fantasy lands where they could be maidens or warriors or anything in between. Another thing that I think we enjoy is the escape from everyday drudgery. Between questing, adventuring, crafting, bartering, raiding, and any of the other activities that MMOs offer, there is always something to go in and do that has nothing to do with work, laundry, bills, driving kids to soccer, or any of the other things that can wear someone down.
