Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Interview

Warcry has conducted an interview with Sigil Games' Brad McQuaid, asking the original EverQuest creator several questions about their upcoming MMORPG, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. An excerpt:
Q: You've already said that there will be player housing. Without instancing, that could mean a lot of crowding issues as the game progresses. Quite a bit like MUDflation, except with housing. That being said, what measures are you taking to prevent us from not being able to walk 2 feet across Thestra (or whatever continent holds the player buildings) without seeing a building?

A: Can't go into too much detail other than to say that housing will be zoned you can't build just anywhere. Likewise, there is an upkeep associated with housing, and we expect people to move as they go up in levels, leaving buildings (or at least build-able land) behind. Does that mean everyone is guaranteed a house? I'm hesitant to commit to that that's akin to guaranteeing content in general. There will be competition to a degree, though we will do our best to avoid both tedium and frustration. That, and the world is seamless and BIG, so there should be good amount of room. Also, our approach, like most MMOGs, is shard based, so servers will age, new servers will be put up, etc., so these and many other opportunities shouldn't only be available at launch, but after launch as the game naturally grows and new worlds are launched.
