X-Men Legends will offer some 15 playable characters in the end, although at least half of them must be earned in the various missions. Collectible "tech bits" serve as the game's currency, and can be used to purchase equipment, health items, and other upgrades. The game is all about finding the right combination of mutants that works for you, and the value of combined-arms tactics. If the current roster simply isn't suited to the environments or enemies at hand, scattered extraction points allow players to swap out team members for suitable replacements.
