Horizons Review

An interesting review of Horizons: Empire of Istaria has surfaced at RPGVault, which is actually written by Ken Johnson, one of the employees that recently departed Artifact Entertainment. His conclusion:
At this still early stage, Horizons is probably most suitable and most fun for people who don't burn through games. If you want to play for a few hours a week, enjoy yourself and feel like you have impacted the world, it's certainly worth a good look. As well, if you're into crafting, there may be no other online game that fits you better. On the other hand, hardcore online power-gamers and those who primarily seek the thrill of the hunt might be better served to watch until those facets are more fully filled out. The adventure of freeing races and finding lost cities is exciting, but the balance of risk versus reward in regular combat may not yet fully engage you. However, Artifact Entertainment has established a solid foundation base of features and technology to build on, and given time, Horizons can certainly progress into a game that achieves its full potential and appeal.
