So what is Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II? It is a wonderful example of how to craft a fun and exciting game out of a genre that is ageing poorly. This game shows that there is still some life yet in the hack and slash RPG, and for that I am grateful. Too often are we as players forced to swallow the hordes of "me too" tripe that are pushed onto retail shelves. Interplay and Black Isle have shown us that there is a better way, and that the path best traveled is laid out before us in a city called Baldur's Gate.
