Lionheart Preview @ Electric Playground

Black Isle's Lionheart is the subject of a new preview over at Electric Playground today. Included in the article are several quotes from BIS during this year's E3. Here's a snippet:

The game will have all of the things about the SPECIAL engine we RPGers like--self-evolving characters, rather than rigid character classes; and a variety of ways to get through the game as a variety of characters. As with Fallout, your actions will be remembered, and deciding to be an angel or an SOB when dealing with others will have its consequences.

As for companions, you can conjure some magical ones, or you can have NPCs join your party. Or not. What is different about Lionheart is that the combat is in real time, and it supports multiplayer. Up to four players can play the single player game cooperatively. To achieve balance, Black Isle says "The combat areas of the game are designed to check the power level of the party and use appropriately difficult creatures, so using higher level characters in a new game should be equally challenging."
