Morrowind Developer Q&A #19

RPGVault continues with their Morrowind Developer Q&A sessions today by adding number nineteen to the fray. Here's a taste:

Jonric: Which opponent or opponents in Morrrowind do you enjoy defeating a little more than the rest, and why do you feel this way?

Mark Nelson, Designer: There's a small quest where you'll meet a barbarian who's had his stuff stolen by a woman he claims is a witch. It's one of the quests I'm responsible for, but it's not one I actually designed. See, we decided to let one of our interns try his hand at quest writing, and this was his. He did a good job; it's a fun quest, and the dialogue is good. There's just one problem: it's been horribly broken since the day he left. So, having now fixed it for the tenth (and final) time, I despise all of the characters involved. But, like I said, it's a good quest, so I always make sure to do it. I talk to the poor barbarian. I take him right where he needs to go. I kill the witch. I return his things to him. Then I kill him, too, and take back all of his stuff. Sometimes I even jump up and down on the bodies. Hey, it's freeform gameplay, and I consider this role-playing as a Frustrated Designer.
