Arcanum Done!

According to VoodooExtreme's recent short Q&A with Troika's Leonard Boyarski, the 19th century-styled techno-magick RPG Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magic Obscura is now done. Believe it or not they only had 12 people working on the game at its height... of course I never played the demo (as the download was too much for my modem... yet the AO beta is one exception at *clears throat* 613 megs... guess CD's were too expensive to ship overseas, but I digress). No word yet on when it's going to hit the shelves but I expect perhaps by the end of the month.

On a release date tangent:
It's interesting that many big games are due to be released by the end of the month. Traditionally, the months of Summer were pretty dry, with a trickle of games perhaps in June. Yet this year might start a trend.

With the game industry now larger than the movie industry, the Christmas market just might be too saturated for all competitors to compete, and therefore many are releasing their wares almost exactly 6 months before (or after depending on your perspective). Christmas season is here to stay, but perhaps this year is the beginning of a twice-a-year (one bigger and one a bit smaller) game roll-out.
