Arcanum in a Nutshell

The classy folks at Sharky Games have interviewed (in depth) the co-founder of Troika Games and lead artist of their Victorian/ fantasy/ steam-technology era sci-fi RPG in the works, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Tampura... wait, that's Obscura. There's too much good stuff to quote from here, so here's some spill over:

Q How many side-adventures, red herrings, and other sub-plots can the player expect to encounter?

A: Egads….I think at last count we had over one hundred fifty full quests (including the main story arc) and that doesn't count things like rumors and other things you might find in the game that aren't “quests”. With the way our main story arc weaves its way through the world, it is hard to fully separate out the main story arc from the “side quests”. If memory serves correctly, I think there is something like seventy quests involved in the main story.

Q: Would you describe this game to be taking place in a "steam punk" setting?

A: I wouldn't necessarily describe it as “steam punk” because while we have the steam, the “punk” element is missing. We're more “steam Victorian society”.
