Voyage of Fortune's Star: A 7th Sea CRPG on Kickstarter

If you happened to be one of the backers of 7th Sea's second edition on Kickstarter, you might be interested in the Kickstarter campaign for Voyage of Fortune's Star, a single-player CRPG based on the tabletop RPG. The project isn't doing so well financially so far, with only $69,791 raised out of its $200,000 goal, in spite of the involvement of Stewart Wiecks, one of the co-founders of White Wolf, and 7th Sea co-designer John Wick.

Perhaps, one of the reasons is the fact that the game will combine a story driven by a single (or two, depending on stretch goals) pre-made protagonist(s) with a Diablo-like combat style, which admittedly doesn't fulfill the usual expectations of the tabletop crowd:

Built as a single-player experience, Voyage of Fortune’s Star features Diablo-style point-and-click gameplay, though the play experience as a whole is story-driven. The story unfolds on board the Fortune’s Star as well as at several different ports and inland locations. The number of locations as well as some specifics of gameplay will be determined by the final funding total of this project, but players will be able to assume control of a single character such as Anzolo Zorzi or other members of the crew. In addition, some sequences will require the player to control many characters at once in order to survive a threat or unravel a puzzle.

Or it might simply be due to the lack of Kickstarter updates (there have only been four so far, with the latest stressing that the project simply won't be made if the Kickstarter campaign is a failure) and the lack of publicity the project received.

Either way, even though there is a good chance the Kickstarter will fail, there are good reasons to bring it to your attention, especially since gameplay for the title is already available and the concept doesn't seem overly ambitious or unreachable.
