Bloodborne: The Old Hunters Q&A, How to Access the DLC Explained

A Q&A concerning The Old Hunters DLC for Bloodborne has been published on the Japanese PlayStation website, and luckily for us an English version of it is included in the page. The Q&A mostly includes information concerning trophies, new weapons and such, but one particularly interesting piece of information concerns the means to access the DLC areas.

So far, there's no set precedent for the series. The Dark Souls DLC (directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki himself) was accessed through a very convoluted process, while the method to access the Dark Souls II DLC areas was very straightforward. It looks like Bloodborne's expansion will be closer to the Dark Souls II DLC in that specific aspect:

Q: How do you access the Bloodborne The Old Hunters expansion?
A: Once you reach a certain point in Bloodborne, the item, "Eye of a Blood-drunk Hunter" appears in the Hunter's Dream. Once you have acquired this item, you will be able to access the newly added areas in the expansion.

Q:Can you use the save data from a cleared game of Bloodborne?
A: Yes. Also, if you are replaying the game and progress to a certain point, you will be able to access the newly added areas in the expansion once you acquire the Eye of a Blood-drunk Hunter.
