Telepath Tactics Reviews

Unfortunately, Sinister Design's Telepath Tactics hasn't received a lot of attention from reviewers so far, but even so, we have managed to round up a few articles on the title. Reviews seem to be unanimous in their appreciation of the title's turn-based combat system, but other aspects, like the interface and the lack of a mid-battle save option, have received criticism.

Telepath Tactics, appropriately, has a beautiful mind. The rest of it is harder to admire, but even so, this is a game that people who crave patience, precision and strategy from their roleplaying battles are going to take to their hearts. In its quiet way, this is a huge game big fights, lethal consequences, wide array of combat possibilities. Fire Emblem fans would love it, probably. I wouldn't know.

Telepath Tactics is an impressive title for such a small development team. The game mechanics themselves are well thought-out and the game, although slow going at first, brings in a very high level of challenge for tactical RPG players. There are some awkward character designs, and the game world and story may not be of the highest level, but underneath the game's cheery graphical style lies the potential for hours upon hours of gameplay.

Telepath Tactics is a great way to experience a fresh Tactical RPG experience, while enjoying elements of popular franchises such as Fire Emblem and Disgaea. It stands well on its own despite the occasional flat dialogue, but that should not deter prospective players from enjoying the experience that Telepath Tactics offers.

In addition to the great single player campaign, the Mod support and map editor increase the replay value of Telepath Tactics multiple times over, as the opportunity to experience other users campaigns, as well as making your own can at times be just as valuable as the single player campaign.

Fans of any Tactical RPG that want to try something that is different but still feels like the games you know and love, should give Telepath Tactics a try; and if you haven't had the chance to play a Tactical RPG before, or are looking for something new, this should be worth every penny.


Mouse N Joypad, 72%.

Telepath Tactics is its predecessors in mind and body, but not in soul. There is an emptiness that is not filled by its competent combat and interesting world. Too often the combat becomes a long, boring campaign, hindered by the weak enemy A.I. and poor design choices. Technical bugs only complicate the roughness of the systems Telepath Tactics often rises above its faults to achieve something truly great in the depths of its combat systems, especially in multiplayer. Issues aside, this game is a solid entry for the given genre and a joy to play when its faults aren't too overbearing.


Indie Haven, scoreless.

Overall, there's a fun game here, but it's not without its frustrations. The combat is fun and challenging, though definitely more so if you forget to pick up a useful item or two at the store before your fight.

For grown men like me, the lack of suspend-state save is a real problem. So if there's any chance that this might get updated in the near future, that would be the world's greatest saving grace. But until then, I've got to press my Score Button.
