Underworld Ascendant Funding Goal Clarification, Will Possibly Share Setting with Shroud of the Avatar

Update: We received confirmation that OtherSide and Portalarium are currently exploring ways to connect Shroud of the Avatar and Underworld Ascendant's fictional settings, though they are still working out the details. As usual, we'll keep you informed as soon as more information is available.

Original story: While originally IGN reported that the Kickstarter campaign for Underworld Ascendant would have a $1 million base funding goal, the OtherSide Entertainment twitter account chimed in to clarify that the figure comprises both the funding goal and a number of stretch goals. As of the moment of this writing, we still don't know the base funding goal of the campaign, nor how many stretch goals would be included in the figure:

The $1M Kickstarter funding figure for Underworld Ascendant is what we hope to reach between our base funding AND initial stretch goals.

Another interesting snippet on the project comes our way via Portalarium's leader and Ultima godfather Richard Garriott who, while replying to a user on Twitter, claimed that the Shroud of the Avatar and Underworld Ascendant teams are working on some joint fiction, continuing, in a way, the tradition started with the original Ultima Underworld titles. It's not clear whether he means that the two games actually share a setting, though, and OtherSide Entertainment has yet to comment on this potentially very interesting collaboration.

We have contacted the company OtherSide for clarification and will update when we hear back from them or have new information. There's no doubt that the prospect of a new, quasi-Ultima setting with multiple titles of different genres is interesting.

Thanks Infinitron for the tip.
