Obviously, last week's news that new digital purchases of Diablo III would be restricted to the Starter Edition for up to 72 hours didn't go over too well, so Blizzard Entertainment has made use of Tuesday's v1.0.3a patch to lift those restrictions. From the official forum thread:

Leveling and Act I content restrictions for unverified digital purchasers have been removed with patch 1.0.3a. Please note that this change will not take effect until your game client has been updated to the most recent patch.
