A second review for Spiderweb's Avernum: Escape From the Pit is online, and this time it comes to us courtesy of Inside Mac Games. It'll be interesting to see how the Windows version stacks up when it's released in a couple of months, but for now we just have a score of 8.0/10 and this conclusion to go by:
As an RPG, Avernum: Escape From the Pit is above-average. It's not really ground-breaking and doesn't really change the core formula for Spiderweb Software games, but that's not a bad thing. If you like leveling up your intrepid band of bandit slayers and demon roasters as they save the world from the evil empire (one king at a time), then this game will likely fit right into your collection. You just may want a sequel to Avadon before the next one.
