Dead Island Has Sold Over 3 Million Copies

Before you go thinking that I'm talking about shipped numbers, pay attention to the exact lingo used within Game Informer's brief announcement heralding the sale of over three million copies of Dead Island. The news apparently comes straight from Deep Silver's Aubrey Norris, so we can likely consider this official:
Global sell-in numbers for Dead Island have now reached 3 million units since launch.

Publisher Deep Silver previously announced the game shipped 2 million copies worldwide to retailers in its launch month this past September. They did not provide a sell-through number, however.

"Dead Island has sold very, very well over the holiday season and we are thrilled that it has sustained a robust level of sell-through since launch in September," Aubrey Norris, Manager of Marketing & PR for Deep Silver told Game Informer.
A certifiable hit, by any measure. Congratulations, Techland and Deep Silver!
