Guild Wars 2 Preview

There's still no news of a possible release date for ArenaNet's ambitious sequel to Guild Wars, but in the meanwhile readers interested in the upcoming MMO may check this preview from Games TM, published online on NowGamer, which offers a brief outlook on the title.
A '˜personal story' element is a feature of particular interest to ArenaNet, encouraging players to take ownership of their characters in a way which, it hopes, will feel closer to playing a narrative-led, traditional offline RPG than the standard '˜race and skills' baseline of an online character.

Equipping each created adventurer with a collection of character-based personality traits is only the beginning, as the emergent world itself also does its very best to tell a more organic story.

Gone, for example, is the traditional system of taking quests from defined and locatable sources. Instead, simply wandering around the world will cause quests to appear through exploration, and many of these tasks won't even have binary defined win or loss conditions.

Rather, results of scuffles will affect the storyline in a wider context, a certain, dynamic result opening up relevant developments to present the player with different questlines.
