Avadon: The Black Fortress Review

Game N Train has reviewed Spiderweb's latest, Avadon: The Black Fortress, noting the game is "well suited for RPG fans" but has various significant flaws, giving it a 3/5.
As far as the characters in the game go, there are four preset character choices availible at the beginning of the game. The choices are: male blademaster, male shadowwalker, female shaman, or female sorceress. I was hoping for more customization options than this, but was severely disappointed. The only thing I could change at the selection screen was the name of my character. When it comes to building character skills, there is a little more freedom, but not as much as I would have preferred. Each level gives you two points to use, whether you use them in increasing a current skill at the cost of one point, or learning a new skill at the cost of two points. Higher tier skills only unlock once lower tier skills have an equal or greater level.

The party system does not support as much versatility as other RPGs. In fact, every party member is nearly identical to the player character. This takes away from any replayability that the game may have had, as it seems pointless to play as a sorceress when I had one in my party with the same specs the first time I played.
