Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Preview

A quick preview of 38 Studios' Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is online over at GameDynamo, where they've briefly covered the game's main selling points. For some people, anyway:
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is going to be a little different than other RPGs. Curt Schilling of 38 Studios has said the game is God of War married to Oblivion; as in many titles in the genre, role-playing factors in, but also some tons of combat and action gaming. While the game is in the early stages, it appears Reckoning is already living up to this promise.

The game will also start a little differently than other RPGs in that the main character, who somehow returns from the dead, will not pick a class to play as. Instead you will choose talents from Finesse, Sorcery, and Might, and this will give you a destiny. As you assign points to the different skill trees, you will get new destinies to follow. You can go from a basic fighter (Might) to a foe to be reckoned with as you increase along the skill trees. Reckoning is going to have a lot of flashy combat abilities for Mages, so the experience will be just as visceral as those who fight with traditional melee skills; no more sitting in the background watching the action from afar, now you will be in it, using your staff as a weapon and a chakra for mid-range attacks.
