Dragon Age Legends Interview

The editors at GamePro have dished up an interview with EA2D's Ethan Levy and Soren Johnson about the company's focus on social game development, whether Dragon Age Legends is a success, what they learned from Dragon Age Journeys, and more. A snip:
Q: Do you expect much crossover between players of the mainline Dragon Age series and Legends?

EL: We have always wanted Dragon Age Legends to fulfill a number of goals to help strengthen the Dragon Age brand. Legends serves as a bridge game that helps core players scratch their Dragon Age itch in between launches of the core product. We wanted Dragon Age fans to get excited for Dragon Age II's launch by participating in the Legends closed beta, and as they finish Dragon Age II, we hope that they pick up Legends to stay engaged with the world while waiting for that next great piece of DLC.

...

Q: What does the future have in store for Legends?

SJ: We have a lengthy roadmap of new features for Legends. Although we are no longer in the age when a major developer like EA can release only 20% of the "final game" (whatever that means) on Facebook and still succeed, social games can still be designed in a modular fashion so that new features can simply be dropped in when ready. When there is a lot of interaction between the various game systems, as there should be, this can lead to some headaches, but it is far superior to the traditional practice of keeping game development in a vacuum for three years building a giant product which has to be right the first time. We can't talk much in detail about anything new for Legends, but we are treating the game like an MMO which will see continual development and expansion.
