Gold Dragon Cave

1 – EXIT TO THE SPINE OF THE WORLD

Use the cave exit from here to return to the Spine of the World area.


2 – GORGOTHA THE ANCIENT GOLD DRAGON

Gorgotha the noble and wise Ancient Gold Dragon is the resident of this cave. She, as all the other Dragons in Moonwood, can do nothing more than protect her eggs from Klauth's minions. However in the case of the Ancient Gold Dragon there is no easy task to take the Dragon Eggs from the lair. Talk with the Dragon and you will find out that Klauth the evil Red Dragon has recruited the Fire Giants to help him obtained other Dragon Eggs. Klauth needs the Eggs in order to be provided with a young Dragon body through evil experiments because he has grown too old and his power is fading. Gorgotha will also tell you that Klauth might have one of the Words of Power. Eventually you can offer to help the Gold Dragon to put an end to Klauth's ambition to be reborn. That means that you have to slain the Red Dragon and bring his head back to Gorgotha.

When you manage to defeat Klauth return back to this cave and present Klauth's head to Gorgotha. She will then reward you with 750 experience points a magical belt (Uthgardt Ceremonial Belt). You can also persuade the Dragon to give you a Ring of Protection +4 but you will need a high persuasion skill rank to do so. However threatening the Dragon for further reward will only anger Gorgotha and you will have to fight her.

If you chose to side with Klauth you will need the Dragon Eggs from either the Green Dragon cave of the Gold Dragon Cave which also means you will have to slain the owner of the Eggs. Even though all the Dragon Fights are rated as "impossible" it would be slightly easier to oppose Akulatraxas the Green Dragon than angering Gorgotha. After all Ancient Gold Dragons are the most powerful creatures in the game.


3 – DOOR TO EGGS

Before you can access the treasure room at area #4 you will have to open the locked and trapped door here. As with the Green Dragon, opening this door will anger Gorgotha and she will come after you even if you helped her with the Red Dragon so be prepared to face another Dragon if you plan to enter the dragon's treasure room.


4 – TREASURE ROOM

Once inside the treasure room you will find the Gold Dragon Eggs in the pool. If you agreed to help Klauth you will need to bring the Eggs back to him. Also some chests contain a large amount of gold, one or two magic items, a vial of Dragon's Blood and some other minor treasures.
