Goblin Caves
Area Note

This area is pretty tough at level 3. If you struggle with the battles here, you might want to wander around the Emerald Hills and fight some of the random groups of kobolds that spawn there.

1 - Cave-In

You can cause a cave-in here, but there doesn't seem to be a particularly good reason to do so.

2 - Prisoners

You won't be able to open the door to free the prisoners until you've claimed the goblin key from the goblin shaman (#3). You'll receive 500 experience for your efforts.

3 - Goblin Shaman

The shaman will drop a goblin key when it dies.

4 - Goblin Chieftain

Here you'll find the goblin chieftain, plus about six other goblins, including a goblin elite. If you're careful, you can draw the chieftain to you and avoid most of the other goblins, and that's a good idea because the chieftain is a tough spellcaster, and he might be difficult to kill all by himself. However, once he's dead he'll drop some decent equipment, plus a goblin head (which you'll need to show Serah Blackhand), plus a psionic gem. Each time you pick up a psionic gem you'll get to have a short conversation with the Masked Man.

If you have Trip with you, then when you approach the exit after killing the goblin chieftain, he'll let you know that he found a lightning rod in the caves, and he'll give it to you.

5 - Treasure Rooms

You'll find some useful equipment in the treasure rooms (like +1 weapons), plus 1000 gold.
