Dungeon Siege II Interview - Page Two
GB: We've read that quests will be more involved and complex in Dungeon Siege II. Can you elaborate on how you've expanded the quest system in Dungeon Siege II and provide an example or two of some of the quests we'll see?

Kevin: DS2 will have primary quests that propel the story and optional secondary quests that deepen the narrative experience and add flavor to the characters and world. Each type of quest can have one or more tasks to complete and can range anywhere from finding a few secret rooms in a dungeon to helping an army hold off a siege on a castle.

GB: We really liked the item sets that were introduced with Legends of Aranna. Will we see even more item sets in the sequel? If so, can you provide a couple examples?

Kevin: Sometimes I think we enjoy crafting unique items and sets almost as much as players enjoy finding them. You can definitely expect to see plenty of these in DS2.

GB: What sort of environments will players be traveling through this time around? Any favorite locations you can talk about?

Kevin: Dungeon Siege 2 has a variety of outdoor environments including a bamboo jungle, a thorny desert, and an enchanted forest. We also have a good amount of indoor areas such as caves and frozen catacombs. Beyond that, I think we maaaaay have a dungeon or two sprinkled throughout the game. ;)

GB: Will Dungeon Siege II bring us any changes or enhancements to multiplayer?

Kevin: The biggest enhancement to DS2 multiplayer over the first game is that players will be able to use multiple party members in a multiplayer game.

GB: What does the future hold for the Dungeon Siege franchise? Where would you like to see the series go within the next several years?

Kevin: We at GPG hold the Dungeon Siege franchise very close to our hearts.

Even though Dungeon Siege is currently PC only, we're investigating many opportunities for expansion of the franchise into different areas that make sense and we plan to execute on the most viable of those opportunities over the next several years.

We'd like to issue our thanks to everyone at Gas Powered Games and Microsoft, especially Kevin, for taking the time to answer our questions!
