where to find blades

Hey all, Ive searched the threads but cant find the answer im looking for... Im looking for where i can..liberate.. or come across a bladed weapon? katana or something, a sword... is it only available later in the game? (just about to do giovanni mission) or is there just a spot im missing... hope someone can help!

Yes, you missed several.
First available is the mission VV gives you to kill the dancer Chasity, in the Sin Bin.
Second are all over Chinatown Sing's sells them, Glaze goons drop two.

Wait are you using the Official 1.2 patch and/or Unofficial 2.7 (current)?

Even with only the official patch, blades aren't hard to come by. Jeanette gives you a knife to slash the paintings in Gallery Noire. If you haven't already bought one from Trip, this is the first blade you acquire.

Fat Larry sells an axe. Quite an upgrade in both damage potential and lethality from the knife.

With the unofficial patches, you can pick up a katana in Hollywood. Without them,, the only melee weapon you'll find there is the sledgehammer. Quite effective against the Gargoyle, but pretty weak against other vampires.

Tseng in Chinatown should carry a katana you can purchase. If you have the unofficial patches installed, you can get the Tal'mah'Ra blade from Yuki while you're there. Otherwise, you'll find it in the Hollowbrook Hotel near the end of the game.

oh ok thanks! well i dont remember having to killing chasity.... im using both patches. and i have a knife but only that as far as blades ... the only places open to me are santa monica, downtown and just recently giovannis....! ill keep and ill keep an eye out when i get to chinatown!

You post is somewhat confusing, are you sure it's Giovanni's they only come into play after Chinatown?

Ok it works like this Santa Monica, Downtown, Hollywood, Chinatown and Giovinni.
With the Swords available as Anaximander and I listed them, if you are in Downtown the best is Knife and Fire Axe.

Maybe you mean you are currently open to Grout's manson?

oh yes thanks for clearing that up! my bad haha! man was i ever confused... because chinatown i knew for a fact wasnt open to me yet! yep grouts mansion, just finished that yesterday... about to do LaCroix's next little retrieval errand!

thanks for the help! Im glad i havent missed any yet... I even tried to grab the asian vamps katana after dusting him haha
