Walking on ice. (walking problem)

This evening i decided to give Vampires Bloodlines another go.
But after installing it on my new PC im having a problem moving around.
I have the feeling i keep "walking on ice" when i release a walk control i sometimes keep moving in that direct for a second or so.

Any known problem? And is there a solution for it?

Had the problem the last time I played VTM too. No real idea what might have caused it. It appeared after I left Santa Monica for Downtown.
