Stupid Question

OK I know that this probably is a stupid question, but can't blame a man for trying: is there ANY way (except for putting everything at minimal quality) to let the game load faster?
Can't play on good pc, so I guess I'd go start new char on crap pc (it ain't that much crap but it's not as good as the other), the game itself runs fine (not great but whatever) but the loading periods are driving me MAD!

I already did the things the moderator posted in the new patch thread (in the end there's something bout making the game run better), but I'm looking for more solutions, hints, whatever.

So anyone got an idea?
Thanks

When the game is loading it is putting together all the files (e.g. textures, dialogues, sound effects etc.) that it will need for the level you've loaded. The only way to expediate this process that I'm aware of is to get more RAM or make more more space on your HD for the swap file.
All that said though, if the game runs fine then I wouldn't bother with the load times unless they are ridiculously long- say two or three minutes- they aren't are they?

Whats your current RAM? I bought the game and installed it on my computer that was running 256MB RAM. Game played so-so but loading times were a killer. A good 10 mins you know. It had to do until I was able to go buy and install a 516MB RAM card which made the game run 10 times faster with load times of maybe a minute for area locations and less then that for loading into buildings. initial start up takes about 2 mins roughly... Oh and set your screen refresh rate to 60.

Try 1 Gigabyte...that gives ya the best performance. You even can unpack the game files which accelerates the loading process a bit. You need a specail software for that though. It's called VPK tool and is used for the modding of skins and so on. A link where to get it should be in one of the threads about modding...

Well the loading times really are redicilously long
I got 256 DDR RAM I think, I know it ain't enough but what you gonna do
Put the screen stuff to 60? How you do that? I'm not really a great computer-user
What's the point bout buying more RAM anyway for this pc, we got a better one but it's just not useable for a little while

Minimal requirements are 384MB RAM but I'd reccommend going 512MB or 1G RAM. For the price and ease of installing it, well worth it and makes loading times MUCH faster. Plus increases your virtual memory which if that fills, the game crashes and did all the time for me on my old 256MB RAM. Cost me less then $100 for a 512MB RAM card at Future Shop and took me more time unplugging everything from my computer then it took me to install it.

RAM raiding

1Gb is so cheap at the moment that there is no reason not to add that extra oomph. I started playing the game on 512 and found that going to a gig made a lot of difference in the smoothness of gameplay.
