Patches

Could someone tell me what I should download and in what order? I've been playing Bloodlines for a long while now but I never bothered with Patches so I figure I'd see what does what now...Yet I don't know what I should download, what would conflict with what, etc.

Some help would be much appreciated...

Also under the Downloads section there's a video of a Tremere in the Beachhouse and everything looks different than in game, what was used to make that?

There are others better equipped to answer the full extent of your question. Basically, the most popular "patch" or mod for VtM: Bloodlines is the Unofficial Patch. One of it's core creator Wesp5 posts around here a fair amount, so you can find his posts and go to their main page for more information. Also, make sure to read the "list of changes" carefully to make sure it's something that you want. It makes some significant changes in places, which some like and others do not.

There's also another patch which dubs itself the "True" Unofficial Patch; it focuses exclusively on fixing bugs, text errors, and restoring aspects of the game they believe Troika intended. The two patches are not compatible. The former patch makes more significant changes than the latter; but, both are commendable efforts. And both fix certain annoying aspects of the game (crashes as well as text errors).

In terms of other mods and reskins, I'll leave that to others to address.

Just one small addition most people seem to forget. The Unofficial Patch comes in two flavors: the default one, which is called "basic patch" stays as true to the original game as the "true" patch but includes much more fixes and a lot of restored content that has no impact on the gameplay. Only the optional "plus patch" applies changes that are more criticial but also restores even more hidden content like a new discipline, new occult items and more.

Well I've downloaded the Official 1.2 Patch I guess, on your website Wesp do I do 1.2 to 5.0? Also I wouldn't mind the hidden content since I've beaten the game with every clan except Brujah (they don't interest me to much)

Also: No replies on the video under the Downloads section? Oh well.

You should download 1.2 to 5.0 and if you have already beaten Bloodlines the Plus Patch is the right one for you. As for the video, this was done with an alpha or beta Bloodlines version that featured the hands during some disciplines and also a different hud, but while I did find some different icons I couldn't find the hand models and animations in the released game files to be restored.

Everything's working great aside from a few Glitches...

On an Unrelated note: Wesp, I have an idea perhaps that might make the Ocean House Hotel creepier (not that it needs to be any creepier XD) But I wouldn't know how to go about doing such a change....It would involve removing the little special effect that accompanies things being thrown at you, I feel the purple light effect when something is thrown off the wall at you actually takes away from the Creepy factor and if it were removed it would have a much creeper effect when, such as in the kitchen, you wouldn't be able to tell which is being thrown and what's not, same with the Chandelier that falls right in the beginning...

It's just an idea and by no means needs to be implemented...

Also there's music in the Haunted House area and I want to know where it can be found in the files
In this youtube video (YouTube - VtM Bloodlines Haunted Hotel) it's at 1:30 in<-------Found it Myself

Also: What exactly is contained in the Plus Package? How do I know it's working and it's all there?

Sorry, but I don't like that idea.

The plus version contains the new Blood Heal discipline and if you installed it correctly you should immediately see it as default selection. It also adds a lot of new occult items and other stuff. Just copied from the readme:

+ New Blood Heal discipline common to all clans.
+ Yukie appearing in the first Temple endgame map.
+ Chewing gum sellable to Copper (found on the pier).
+ SWAT sniper rifle (available from Mercurio and Bach).
+ Pull toy for Gary's quest (found in Red Spot storage).
+ Grenade prop as Intimidation powerup (found at netcafe).
+ Occult Obfuscate powerup (placed in the Nosferatu haven).
+ Occult Charisma powerup (gained as bonus gift from Isaac).
+ Occult hacking powerup (received during the Mitnick quest).
+ Occult lockpicking powerup (obtained as reward from Mr. Ox).

Oh well I suppose It was only something I'd like.

Do I need to start a game to get the plus package to work? I haven't noticed any Blood Heal Discipline...But I do have the SWAT Sniper Rifle...

The Blood Heal was included in one of the later patches so if you played an earlier one or the "true" patch you would still have gotten the SWAT rifle.

And you need to start a new game to get the full experience.

I did, and Blood Heal is there, I had taken the 1.2 to 5.0 one and installed it with the Plus bits...I noticed, however, that I can't purchase ammo from the Merchants for the Guns, Not Shotgun Shells for the Automatic Shotgun, or 9mm bullets, etc.

Strange. Did you start a new game after patching? Which vendors are affected?

Nevermind it, the problem only affected the game I had running before the patching, it's all working fine now. Rather, I'm not 100% sure the problem is gone but I'll reply when I'm sure, All Vendors were affected.
