| Malkavian characters refer to Jeanette and Therese as the white and dark daughters of Janus, respectively. Janus is an ancient Roman god who was always depicted with two faces, one looking foward, one backward. Janus represented, among other things, beginnings and endings, which is why the month of January is named for him. It is the end of one year, and the beginning of the next.
