I usually play with the surround sound turned on so I don't think I ever had any problems hearing the whispers. Understanding them is a different thing all together. But I don't actually want to understand them, I like it that they're, well, whispers.

I don't think the voices you hear in the warrens are coming from inside your head, it's the nosferatus who are hiding and trying to trick you. You hear the voices no matter what clan your vampire belongs to.

Everybody hears those, they freak me out a little. I wonder what they're saying.

But as a Malkavian I haven't really heard whispers, I might start a new game as a Malk and see if I have more luck this time around. At what stage/area of the game are the whispers most prominent?

I heard most of my voices in Hollywood. The warrens you can hear them. I heard a girl crying while talking to Imalia. The voice definately wasn't there when I was playing as a Tremere the first time round. There's also some in Chinatown.

Than you for your concern, pal, I appreciate it. There is a "whispers" folder but it only has two versions of the same audio file of a child moaning. There's also another file named "whisper" and it says: "What does the Prince has his little bitch doing today?", or something like that.

Checking the other audio folders I found that almost every character with whom you interact has his own, so my guess is that there are files of different whispers scattered in each one of these folders and they are only played when you're talking with that particular NPC.

But then again, as Werner said, if they're in the pack0x.vpk file, I'll try to check them out in the future.

I got the whispers from Pack00 and Pack07 I believe, whatever, they're both majority sound files, and some of the environmental whispers in the Warren's aren't Nosferatu, I'd assume, because they sound exactly like the voices the Malkavians hear

Here's what I've managed to transcribe:

<spoiler>
"It casts a crooked shadow."
"Souls draped in rotten tatters and Father dances in the dark."
"Cemetery run-off congealing at the door."
"Must lay shrouded and the moon is melting."
"You're in for it now!"
"Sealed with the kiss of swine."
"The very thought falls to the flame."
"Bone round in melody and world laid in rain."
"They're coming."
"Look at it, bent like a calf for the butcher."
"A trick with two tongues."
"Maggots love you. Trust me."
"It's a tangle of asps."
"Try the corpse in the oven with peppers and fur."

</spoiler>

Note that this is what I hear, I could be wrong.

I only extracted sound files that were mislabeled and had to be renamed to be audible, like the child moaning (which I then got wrong myself on the first try, that's why there are two of them). The majority is still in the pack files...

I am interested in those whispers as well, just got some "main-words" of that whispered sentences that gave me glimpse what they are talking about...

Can somebody tell in which .vpk-pack they can be found or are they scattered over all packs?

I'm very interested in this as I've been unable to hear some of the lines properly myself. Thanks!

These breathe a pretty fresh insight into what they might be saying. (I heard most of the files off the game, I can't quite hear them in game when I went through and have not really gotten to go through as a Malk again yet.)

If you're still interested, I think these are misses though:

"The very thought falls to the flame."
> The heavy fort falls to the flame.

In reference to a certain battle, it becomes a clue to make the fight easier. The fort is straight forward, the flame less so.

"Bone round in melody and world laid in rain."
> Bone rattle maladies and worm leaden rain.

No idea where or what this refers to even from what I heard. But to me, it makes a little more "sense" in a way referring to some plague/pestilence. I could name 2 places this might be suitable.

Although they are easy to understand ingame, I would love to listen to the extensive explanations of Dr. Alistair Grout from the tape-recorders in his mansion, can anyone tell me in which folder or .vpk pack I can find the files?
