Looking for Plaguebearers

I'm tracking down the source of the mysterious infection.

I've killed Jezebel, talked to Tin Can Bill and gone down into the sewers to look for more plaguebearers. The problem is that I only find rats down there. THe walkthrough says "Pick the lock of the door at the end of the first sewer tunnel you enter and move through the smaller tunnels beyond. " But there's no door at the end of the tunnel. There is a door in the middle of a tunnel some distance away, but it has one of those unpickable locks (green lock icon).

What am I missing here? Are there more sewers downtown?

I'm playing with the unofficial patch 2.8.

Seems I just answered my own question. I'd been going down the wrong manhole...

So where exactly is the correct manhole? I was using the walk-thru and had the same problem...

Well, I didn't note exactly where it was - I just looked again and found it. But
IIRC it's further into the alley.

You walk down the alley in a specific direction to find Tin Can Bill. The correct manhole is farther down the alley in the same direction, behind a garbage bag.
